Opportunities at the Writers Centre

ACTWC Internship Opps

Are you looking to develop a career in the arts? Do you want to get some content production and writing experience on your CV?

The ACT Writers Centre is looking for enthusiastic and resourceful emerging arts workers to join our small team by undertaking communications and marketing internships.

Our internships are mutually-beneficial learning experiences for individuals wanting to gain experience in the ACT’s literature and writing sector.

Your internship will be based around an individual project, supervised by the Communications Manager and/or Executive Officer. These projects are determined through the Centre’s need and your own personal interest.

Ideally, all candidates are comfortable using WordPress, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, coding in HTML and CSS, reading analytics and have some experience in writing, content production or digital marketing. These roles are suited to those looking for mentorship in digital media, communications and marketing.

Hours: Part-time, 1 day per week (or equivalent)

Duration: negotiable—the projects are for a determined period, as agreed by the ACT Writers Centre and the applicant, with pre-determined goals to achieve.

Salary: All internships are volunteer positions

Selection Criteria

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and show initiative
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ambition to work within the literary sector.

How to Apply: Please submit a cover letter (no more than one A4 page) outlining what sort of internship project you’d like to undertake and how you meet the selection criteria, along with a copy of your CV to: admin@actwriters.org.au with the subject EOI: INTERNSHIP

Closing date: These applications are ongoing, and you will be notified as soon as possible if you are successful.

There is a possibility that these positions could be performed remotely—the ACT Writers Centre aims to provide equal opportunities for all writers, and aims to provide access to people with disability, from remote regions, and diverse backgrounds.
